چکیده

There are few evidences on the effect of biochar vegetable yield, nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) leaching losses under intensive production soil. The current field plot scale study evaluated responses Chinese cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.) N P using five treatments common application rate according to local farmers’ practice (N100%), reducing 20% or 40% fertilizer (N80% N60%), but incorporating 10 20 t/ha (N60% + BC10 N60% BC20). Results showed that N80% decreased both economic leaf yields by 6.8%–36.3% 27.4%–37.7%, respectively. Incorporation with reduced rates improved in particular BC20 matched yield observed N100% treatment. Enhanced uptake capacities shoot probably contributed higher amendment schemes. Biochar mitigated NH4+-N total 20%–30% 29%–32%, respectively, compared their counterpart treatment N60%. Nevertheless, exerted no influence NO3–-N leaching. In addition, soil organic matter content was recorded 7.4%–28.7% following 10–20 application. conclusion, can increase via increasing use efficiency, decrease losses, improve quality an system.

Chromosome Doubling of Microspore-Derived Plants from Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.) and Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica L.)

Chromosome doubling of microspore-derived plants is an important factor in the practical application of microspore culture technology because breeding programs require a large number of genetically stable, homozygous doubled haploid plants with a high level of fertility. In the present paper, 29 populations of microspore-derived plantlets from cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) and brocc...

Ozone fumigation increases the abundance of nutrients in Brassica vegetables: broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica) and Chinese cabbage (Brassica pekinensis)

Brassicaceae vegetables, among them broccoli and Chinese cabbage, are well recognized due to the nutritional properties. Four-week-old Chinese cabbage and broccoli seedlings were fumigated with O3 for 3 days before being transplanted into the field. The effect of O3 treatment was determined after reaching marketable quality (ca. 10 weeks). The inflorescences of O3-treated broccoli were enriched...

Evaluation of Antioxidant Activities of Cabbage (Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata L.)

At present, it is widely-known that free radicals are the causes of illness such as cancers, coronary heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and aging. One method of protection from free radical is the consumption of antioxidant-containing foods or herbs. Several analytical methods have been used for qualitative and quantitative determination of antioxidants. This project aimed to evaluate antioxid...

Comparison of Photomorphogenic Responses to UV Light in Red and White Cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.).

Photoinhibition of hypocotyl growth in white cabbage (Brassica oleracea L., cv "Bianco Brunswick") is controlled by UV absorbing receptor(s) and the phytochrome system, while in red cabbage (cv "Rosso Olandese tardivo invernale") phytochrome can act without any requirement for the action of a specific UV receptor. Similar results have been obtained for the photoregulation of anthocyanin product...
